Green Globes Certification Options

The Green Globes family of Rating Systems was designed to verify and recognize a project’s environmental performance.

Currently there are four options for Green Globe Certification:

  1. ANSI/GBI 01-2010
    Green Building Assessment Protocol for Commercial Buildings

    The newest generation Green Globes Rating System represents one of the most scientifically advanced, robust and holistic green building rating systems for the new construction or major renovation of commercial buildings. Currently available in the United States and coming to Canada in the near future.

  2. Green Globes New Construction

    Used to aid architects, engineers, construction professionals, building owners and facilities managers in evaluating, quantifying and improving the environmental performance of new construction projects, as well as major renovations. Available in both Canada and the United States.

  3. Green Globes Fit-Up

    Used to achieve sustainable principles in the design of new or the remodeling of existing commercial interiors – only available in Canada. Green Globes Fit-up will help you achieve functional goals while maximizing environmental performance in terms of energy and water efficiency, resource conservation, waste reduction, health and productivity.

  4. LEED Conversion

    For a number of reasons, there are LEED projects that have either abandoned the process or have become bogged down in the certification process. DIAGRAM’s staff have successfully facilitated over 50 projects through the LEED certification process and faced the same challenges with respect to the completion of certification. Using this background experience, they have developed a unique methodology which allows a former LEED project to be assessed under the Green Globes Certification System. Some of the key advantages of LEED Conversion:

    • Because Green Globes is a percentage-based scoring system, green building measures that have already been incorporated into a project will be rewarded;
    • Non-standard projects can indentify credits as non applicable;
    • All of the certification documentation can be produced by DIAGRAM, as the certification process does not rely on third-party documentation;
    • Although the wait time for certification may not necessarily be a factor for LEED conversion projects, the wait time for Green Globes Certification is relatively short in comparison to the LEED certification process;
    • Although the cost of Green Globe Certification is an added cost, it is often seen as a method of protecting a client’s investment through recognition of Green Building measures already incorporated into a project.
